La-di-dah

Tricky to get started but great once mastered. Best for a group holiday or weekend away.

Everyone must grab a bottle, or a plate, big or small. The objective is to pass the bottles or plates around the table without errors.

Get a rhythm going to the chanting of "La-di-dah", "La-di-dah", "La-di-dah-di-dah-di-dah", "La-di-dah", "La-di-dah", "La-di-dah-di-dah-di-dah" etc.

Now for the tricky bit. All hold a bottle each in your right hand. Everyone together follows these steps, in time to the chant:

"La" - bang bottle on the table to the right,
"Di - Dah" - bang bottle on the table to the left,
"La" - bang bottle on the table to the right,
"Di - Dah" - bang bottle on the table to the left,
"La" - bang bottle on the table to the right,
"Di - Dah" - bang bottle on the table to the left,
"Di - Dah" - bang bottle on the table to the right,
"Di - Dah" - PASS THE BOTTLE ON to the player on your left,

.......and repeat from the top.

The bottles start moving around the table, noisily!

But seriously, it's worth persevering. It's noisy and fun.

As the pace quickens people will start to make mistakes which are immediately obvious because a whole load of bottles will pile up in front of them. Make them take a forfeit (see our forfeits page), then start again.

If you haven't got enough bottles and have been eating, just use your plates. This can get messy!

And for advanced play, use two bottles or plates each, one in each hand.

Comment: played it for years. Best if everyone is kneeling on the floor in big circle, and use golf balls which roll all over the place when miss-handled. Also speed up the gain progressively to encourage mistakes. Result is havock.
