Before the party:
Make a list of 12 items to be found (but NOT moved) and prepare copies of the list for everyone. These items, gathered from the household, should be placed where they can be seen without moving anything, but probably not noticed without close observation. Suggestions are: postage stamp (not on letter), Q-tip, Canadian penny, button (not on clothing), chopstick, emery board, playing card (face down), eraser, aspirin.
At the party:
Players may move around within the room or specified area and are free to chat, but should not give away their discoveries. First one who finds all 12 items shouts "Happy New Year!"
Then (or later) that player must indicate where each item was seen. If not, the next person is given a chance.
The winner gets a calendar for a prize, and is declared to be fit for surviving another year.
This game keeps guests awake till midnight, but is hard to play if you are not cold sober! |
