Great Blue Heron
This is a variation on another game called Ben Dover. It is guaranteed to generate plenty of laughter!

All you need to play is a large paper bag (grocery style), scissors and an open space - at least an 8 foot square (such as a living room with furniture moved to the walls). Any number can play, the more the better.

Open the bag up and place the bag on the floor in the middle of the open space with the bag opening facing up. One at a time, each player must approach the bag, stand on one foot, bend over, pick up the bag with their mouth, and demonstrate balance while still on one leg (usually involves standing back up) for at least a couple seconds. Then reset the bag where it started for the next person's turn.

Allow players as many "chances" as they want, but you can limit it to one or two chances as desired. Players who do not succeed in picking up the bag are eliminated from the game.

Once all players have finished their turns (including any extra chances given), cut 2-3 inches off the top of the bag, as evenly as possible. We usually cut 2-3 inches the first few times, then cut 1-2 inches as the bag gets lower.

The last player to be eliminated wins - the person who picks up the bag at its lowest height.

_______________

Rule clarifications:

1) Only one foot can touch the floor throughout your turn. No other body parts (except hair) can contact the floor or any other objects (walls, tables, etc) in the room while picking up the bag.

2) You cannot switch feet during a turn, but you may switch feet from one turn to the next. Some people don't use this rule.

3) The foot that is not touching the ground may be rested on other body parts (including the other foot) at any time. Your hands can be placed on any body parts if desired.

4) You may adjust the bag (rotate it) or move it slightly out of center before your turn if desired, but once you lift your foot the bag should only be touched with your mouth.

5) You may pick up the bag at any spot - there is usually one or more "high" spots due to uneven cutting.

6) The two second rule. Merely getting the bag off the ground for less than two seconds does not count. Contacting the ground with hands or other foot immediately after pick-up is no good.

Tips:

1) A bobbing approach often works well, but can cause loss of balance.

2) Sticking out your tongue is allowed but the bag often slips off before it can be grasped with the lips.

3) When a player fails we usually offer them another chance at the end of that round - right before the bag is to be cut. This allows the player to rest before making a second attempt at the same height.

4) Observers should try to protect the player going for the bag from crashing into walls, tables, etc. Fragile objects should be cleared from the room.

5) Have a blast!!!

Comment: This game sounds really funny. It is good, coz if people feel bad about being shorter than the rest, they have a big advantage in this game, coz they r closer to the floor

Comment: This game is fun for people that like to talk a lot. You and the number of people that are at the party, you sit in a circle and you ask as many question as you can but you can't ask the same question that the person ask you it as to be your own. The person that can't came up with anther question they lose but the others still play the game until there is only one person left and the win!
