Cahoots
Someone who knows how to play leaves the room - he is the guesser. Then his buddy points to an object in the room.

Call the guesser back in and the buddy points at an item and asks "Are we in Cahoots?". He repeats this until his friend the guesser says yes.

How it works: You and the guesser agree on a mutual signal (such as right before selecting the chosen object, you point at something "black", or "red", or any other color). Then the guesser knows that the next object is the correct one.

Comment: for the confused ones..2 people must know the rules, person 1 leaves the room while person 2 (along with the rest of the group) pick a visible object. Person 1 comes back in and person 2 has to say "is it....and points at different objects around the room, unitl person 1 says yes to the right one. So what happens is person 2 says "are we in cahoots?" and person 1 will say yes only after someone in the group has spoken, then the game begins, so person 1 then knows that the chosen object will be the one that person 2 says after the first person has spoken.

Comment: another version. The guesser sits down, blindfold and the partner stands behind and points to people in the room and says are we in cahoots? eventually the blindfold guesser annnounces the yes they are in cahoots and reveals the name of the person being pointed at by the partner! how does that work???

Comment: This game is also known as "Black Magic". The pointer asks the guesser about various objects in the room, eventually pointing to a black object. Then, the guesser knows that the next object pointed to is the one chosen while he was out of the room. And it really makes people feel stupid when they finally figure it out, and then realize all along that the game name was "BLACK Magic" and they didn't figure it out until now!

Comment: I played this differently. When the guesser comes back YOU are the one that asks him, "is it joe's hat?", the guesser answers yes or no. The clue is that the first question you ask is about the wrong item in the right person, and you don't ask anything else about that person, until you mention the correct item. Then the guesser says yes and the people who don't know how to play are amazed!
